Introduction

Due to the favorable geographical location, to the quality of the soil, to the rich forests and to the ores, the lands of Bistriţa-Năsăud County have been populated since ancient times. The archaeological vestiges from the Neolithic, the Dacian, Dacian-Roman and Roman ages discovered on the territory of the entire county constitute proofs of the perenniality and of the continuity of the Romanian people in these places.


Şintereag commune is made up of six villages: Şintereag locality - center of commune, Blăjenii de Jos, Blăjenii de Sus, Caila, Şieu-Sfântu and Cociu.

 

Şintereag locality stretches along the road with beautiful houses and wealthy households, proof of the diligence of its inhabitants. Şintereag is known by the ruins of a Neolithic settlement discovered in the point ,,pe Cremene", also by the church in Gothic style, architectural monument, built in the fifteenth century, subsequently completed with a bell tower with a square base and ,,gang"(passage) under roof, out of where you can admire the wonderful view of the surroundings.
